Testimony of Dennis Rice

I was a rebel and a law unto myself.  I justified my rebellion by reading authors and philosophers who told me that society was wrong.  I rejected Christianity as being too simple and narrow-minded.  Developing my own religion - a combination of religion and philosophy - I became my own god.  The drugs and music message of the 1960s agreed with my world-view.

In 1969 I was working in Hollywood, California and taking care of my four children.  That year the Tate-LaBianca murders rocked Los Angeles and the world.  I thought  these crimes could set off a revolution in America.  I believed nothing short of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, or a revolution, (maybe both) were necessary to solve America's problems.  After visiting Charles Manson in jail, my children and I went to live with the Manson 'Family.'

Charlie and the others were convicted of the murders and sentenced to die.  In order to save them we held up an army surplus store to obtain enough guns to break them out of jail.  The robbery failed and I spent the next seven years in prison.  It was there that other convicts introduced me to 'the real' Jesus Christ, the Jesus of the Bible!

Reading the scriptures, I saw my sin for what it really was, and cried out to God for forgiveness.  I repented of my sins and received Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior.  Upon release from prison, I became faithful in a Bible preaching church and over the past 25 years God has continued to change me.  He has restored my family and even given me a new chance to be a husband and father.  Today I go back into prisons around the world and tell men, women and young people of the One who has come to set them 'free.'

"If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed."
John 8:36

You can be made 'free' right now!  The Bible says "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."  "There is none righteous, no, not one."  "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 3:23; 3:10; 6:23)

Say this prayer from your heart and the same Jesus who forgave my sins 25 years ago will forgive you right now!

"Dear Jesus, I need you.  Thank you for dying on the cross to pay for my sins.  I turn from my sins and surrender my life to you.  Come into my life and make me the person you want me to be.  Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life."
